PIGB panacea to fuel scarcity – Rep Akinlaja
The passage of the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill (PIGB) will go a long way in resolving the perennial fuel scarcity Nigerians face, especially during festive season, a member of the House of Representatives has said.
Rep Joseph Akinlaja (PDP, Ondo) who chairs the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (downstream), said in Abuja yesterday that it is the responsibility of all stakeholders, especially members of the National Assembly, to ensure that the bill is quickly passed into law.
He said the adhoc panel constituted to look at the PIGB has gone far with its work based on the directive of Speaker Yakubu Dogara that work on the bill should be concluded within this year.
He said as part of the process of ameliorating ongoing scarcity, his committee would continue monitoring filling stations to ensure that there is no hoarding.
